About Friends of Austinville Valley Inc.

In an effort to preserve the rural residential and nature conservation character of Austinville Valley, concerned residents have formed the Friends of Austinville Valley Inc (FOAV) association. FOAV is also a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC).

Specifically, FOAV’s objectives are:

  • To promote the rural residential and nature conservation character of Austinville Valley.
  • To monitor and respond to anti-social activities that negatively impact the rural residential, and natural conservation character of Austinville Valley including, for example, hooning, graffiti, littering, vandalism and damage to the environment.
  • To monitor and respond to ecologically unsustainable development pressures that are inconsistent with the rural residential, and natural conservation character of Austinville Valley.
  • To support the community with resources and information to assist in the event of natural disasters such as fire, floods, etc.

Our first area of focus

Our first area of focus, urban creep pressures, concerns the new proposed development at 79 Austinville Road where the owners intend to build 30 short-term accommodation cabins and other buildings, including a pavilion. Read more about this under the heading ‘Urban creek pressures’

Membership

We are hopeful many Austinville residents will want to join the FOAV association. The larger the number in the association, the stronger our voice in resisting development plans that will significantly undermine Austinville valley’s rural nature. As an FOAV member, you will be kept up to date on what steps FOAV is taking to ‘keep Austinville rural’ and have an opportunity to influence and/or be involved in the future work of the association. The larger FOAV’s membership, the more powerful will be our voice in influencing how Austinville Valley evolves. A large membership also sends a strong message to any organisation contemplating a new commercial development that compromises the rural nature of Austinville Valley.
